John Fenoglio is thrilled to be the newest addition to the Best Deals team. A recent transplant from Chicago, he arrives with a rich background in broadcast news and feature reporting. His latest endeavors include co-hosting and producing the TV news magazine "Overexposure," the Windy City's first "green tech" programming.
Fenoglio's reporting career began in 2006 in an interesting, albeit unconventional, way. As a student of journalism and fiction writing, he was hungry for a truly unique opportunity–eager to cut his teeth reporting on-air. That summer he launched and co-produced radio news operations for Burning Man, an annual arts event that gathers over 50,000 people in Nevada's Black Rock Desert. His daily reports covered a multitude of human-interest stories, including interviews with some of the world's premiere artists and musicians. He also hosted a reporters' roundtable to discuss large-scale art exhibits and burgeoning solar powered technology.
Fenoglio's feature reports from Black Rock helped land him with NBC Network News later that year. While at NBC, he received associate producer credits for his work assisting correspondents and producers from "Today" and "Nightly News" on stories of national interest, including the shootings at Virginia Tech University, the nationwide immigration marches on Washington, D.C. and President Obama's early campaign to the White House.
Originally from Houston, Fenoglio enjoys spending his free time camping, fishing, photographing the great outdoors and going to the movies. A former volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician, he enjoys being active in community service. E-mail John at: john@csala.com
