Children are born into families living in extreme poverty, where unemployment and criminal activity are ways of life. These challenges often lead to domestic violence, chronic abuse and life-threatening neglect – traumatic experiences that, in turn, have a profound effect on young lives. Many of these children fare poorly in school, fall into drugs and crime, and are apt to continue the cycle of abuse from one generation to the next. Language and cultural barriers can leave them and their families even more vulnerable.

The Village Family Services is a community-based nonprofit organization set up to meet these challenges. The Village provides top-quality, culturally sensitive and compassionate services to thousands of fragile children and families each year. Our mission is critical: protect children from abuse, preserve families, and build a stronger, safer community for all.

Children Come First

The Village is distinguished by their overriding philosophy that children and families come first, all the time, in all ways. No child in need of their services is ever turned away. When a child is abused or neglected, they are there. When a low-income family needs a financial boost, they provide help. When a man needs parenting skills, they teach him to become a good father. They do whatever it takes to ensure the safety of a child.

Their services are brought directly to children and families through a series of bold, family-focused programs. From mental health to parenting, from foster care and adoption to our renowned “Wraparound” services, their programs work together to break the cycle of abuse and promote healing.

And even though the focus of The Village Family Services is on residents of the San Fernando Valley, there are no geographic boundaries on the breadth and depth of our services. If a client family moves to a neighboring county, their therapists stay with them to ensure continuity of care and a positive outcome.
